Huawei released the industry's first P-bit cluster router NetEngine 5000E-20

[China, Beijing, July 15, 2019] Today, Huawei unveiled the industry's first P-bit cluster router, NetEngine 5000E-20, at the IP Technology Conference in China. For the smart age, NetEngine 5000E-20 products introduce innovative technologies such as innovative hardware architecture, next-generation routing protocol SRv6 and intelligent operation and maintenance to help customers easily cope with the challenges of digital flooding and business diversity.



Huawei GIV (Global Industry Vision) predicts that by 2025, the number of global connections will reach 100 billion, and the enterprise cloud application rate will reach 85%. The speed connection network will connect all corners of the physical world. Network traffic will continue to grow at a high rate, and equipment capacity needs to continue to increase. With the new services such as 5G, ultra-high-definition video, and cloud, the service types carried by the backbone network are diversified. The existing network protocols need to be optimized to provide differentiated SLA guarantees and fast cross-domain provisioning. Capabilities to help operators achieve rapid business innovation. In addition, the diversification of business and the explosive growth of connections have brought great challenges to traditional operation and maintenance, and there is an urgent need to improve automation and intelligence.


In response to these challenges, Huawei developed the NetEngine 5000E-20 core router. The product has the "three new" capabilities of the new Pbit platform, SRv6 new protocol and intelligent new operation and maintenance, which can help users achieve ultra-high-speed interconnection, rapid business innovation capability and full lifecycle automation of operation and maintenance.


New platform, capacity increase 10 times to P bit level


NetEngine 5000E-20 fully upgrades the hardware platform, breaking through many technical problems such as ultra-high-speed signal transmission and super heat dissipation. The number of single-card line card slots has been increased to 20, and the capacity per slot can reach 10 Tbps or more. The stand-alone capacity exceeds 200 Tbps. The 2+8 cluster system forwards more than 1.6 Pbps (1600 Tbps), which is more than 10 times the capacity of the previous generation platform, helping users to cope with the digital torrent of the intelligent era.


New agreement, SRv6 smart connection enables business innovation


The NetEngine 5000E-20 fully supports the SRv6 protocol and combines the Huawei network cloud engine NCE to achieve tenant-level/application-level service path control and differentiated SLA guarantees through SRv6 network programmability, meeting the diverse business needs of the intelligent era. At the same time, the SRv6 protocol uses native IPv6 packet encapsulation, is compatible with the existing IPv6 devices, and is deployed on demand. Through the simplification of the control plane protocol, the entire network is seamlessly connected across domains, and the key is on the cloud.


New operation, full life cycle automation


Huawei is "+ smart" in the life cycle of NetEngine 5000E-20 to improve operation and maintenance efficiency. Through intelligent network planning, Huawei achieves accurate capacity expansion prediction with an accuracy rate of over 90%, significantly reducing planning workload and improving investment efficiency. The intelligent congestion assessment algorithm can achieve network-level traffic balancing and improve network utilization by more than 80%. Through iFIT (In-Situ Flow Information Telemetry) with flow detection technology, real-time accurate detection of service loss, delay, jitter and other performance information, with Telemetry millisecond network business status data collection, making network quality SLA real-time visible, realizing Second-level fault location ensures effective service quality.
