Huawei smart computing debuts at SLUSH, the global AI startup conference in Finland

[Helsinki, Finland, November 21, 2019] The SLUSH 2019 International Conference was held in Helsinki, Finland. This conference gathered international giants and technology startups from 130+ countries around the world, and the number of participants reached 20,000+. Huawei Intelligent Computing participated in this summit as an important partner and brought a wonderful AI theme forum speech, which fully demonstrated the technical strength of Huawei's full-stack and full-scenario AI and Huawei's AI ecological strategy in Europe.



Xiong Yihui, Vice President of Marketing of Huawei's Intelligent Computing Business Department, delivered a keynote speech on "Ascend to a New AI Era", comprehensively expounding Huawei's AI computing strategy: investing in basic research, building a full-stack full-scenario AI solution, investing in open ecology, and talent training Introducing AI thinking and technology to enhance existing solutions, etc. Xiong Yihui also introduced the European AI ecological plan based on rising that was released on HCE2019 (HUAWEI ECO-CONNECT EUROPE 2019) on November 5th: 100 million euros will be invested in the next 5 years With industrial organizations, 200,000 developers, 500 ISV partners, 50 research institutions and universities, enable and help start-ups and individual developers to carry out technology development and business innovation based on Shengteng AI series products.


For enterprises, Huawei uses the two OpenLabs located in Munich and Paris as the AI competence centers to provide support for start-up ISV partners in hardware, development and migration, and joint market development. For AI technology developers, Xu Daorong, an expert in the European Department of Intelligent Computing, and Sun Le, an expert from Huawei ’s Intelligent Computing European Product Management Department, shared Huawei ’s AI inference development framework and development tools based on the Shengteng AI processor, and demonstrated Atlas ’open capabilities for developers, end-to-end development and deployment capabilities, and custom computing. For sub-development capabilities, Huawei will enable European developers around the online developer community and offline technical salons, developer competitions, and developer support.



Huawei's intelligent computing booth displayed a full set of AI software and hardware products, an AI ecological plan for Europe, and solutions cases co-created with universities, ecological partners, and developers, fully demonstrating the strength of Huawei's full stack and full scene AI technology. And unswervingly plan to invest in the AI computing industry and build an AI ecosystem.


Huawei's full-stack AI solution includes the Ascend series of AI processors, the CANN operator library, the MindSpore AI computing framework, and the ModelArts application enablement, which covers all-scenario AI products, including Atlas inference and training. Part of the ecological application case created in conjunction with colleges and universities highlights several popular research directions such as image classification, detection, segmentation, super-resolution and GAN image generation, and computer vision and robotics. Solution demonstrations with ISV partners include inspections of transmission lines, ABB waste sorting robots, cancellation of provincial toll stations, smart financial OCR, etc., and demonstrated the application of Huawei AI in transportation, power, and finance industries.
