President Ramaphosa of South Africa unveiled Huawei's South Africa Innovation Center in Johannesburg. Ramafosa stated that by encouraging the establishment of institutions such as the "Huawei South Africa Innovation Center" and introducing the latest technology from globally leading technology companies such as Huawei, South Africa and the African continent will move towards the direction of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and gain opportunities for leapfrog development.

It is reported that the Huawei South Africa Innovation Center is an organization established by Huawei to promote joint innovation in the ICT field with local partners, developers, and small and micro enterprises in South Africa. At the same time, this innovation center also showcases Huawei's latest technologies and solutions, including 5G technology, cloud technology, and AI.

After attending the ribbon cutting ceremony, President Ramafosa visited the newly established innovation center. He stated that the technology and solutions showcased by Huawei's South African Innovation Center, as well as the understanding of cutting-edge technologies and trends demonstrated by Huawei employees, are "impressive and inspiring".

President Ramaphosa said that the establishment of Huawei's South Africa Innovation Center is very consistent with the Government of South Africa's policy priorities of using digital technology to promote economic development. We hope that this innovation center can become a starting point for local ICT technology enterprises and new business opportunities in South Africa, thereby creating more job opportunities, promoting South Africa's economic development, and achieving South Africa's national development goals.

President Ramaphosa highly recognized the role of ICT technology in promoting the Digital transformation of the industry. He said: "From mining, to ports, to transportation, government emergency response and other fields, the application of digital technology will greatly optimize the production and operation processes of all walks of life. For example, last year, Huawei, together with South African operators and industry partners, released Africa's first 5G coal mine." He said that the Government of South Africa has also taken a series of measures to promote the development of the digital economy. For example, South Africa issued a license for "high demand spectrum (including the 3.5GHz frequency band considered the 5G gold spectrum)" last year, which, in conjunction with "digital migration", will significantly expand the access to network broadband and reduce data costs.

President Ramafosa also encouraged Huawei's South African Innovation Center to continue focusing on knowledge transfer and skill transfer in South Africa, while also assisting in the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in South Africa. He also congratulated Huawei on its achievements in promoting the digital talent ecosystem in South Africa through projects such as the LEAP Digital Talent Training Program, ICT Academy, and TECH4ALL DigiSchool.

Chinese Ambassador to South Africa, Chen Xiaodong, stated that in the context of China South Africa cooperation, the establishment of Huawei South Africa Innovation Center reflects the willingness and determination of Chinese enterprises to work with South Africa to accelerate 5G applications and jointly embrace the fourth industrial revolution.

Chen Lei, president of Huawei Southern Africa, said in his speech that South Africa has become an example in the African continent and even in the world in terms of 5G deployment and Digital transformation of the 5G enabling industry.
