The 2023 World Artificial Intelligence Conference opened at the Shanghai World Expo Center. The key to the development of artificial intelligence is to "go deep and practical", empower industrial upgrading, and serve thousands of industries and scientific research well.


To achieve this goal, on the one hand, we need to create a strong computing power base. On the other hand, from universal big models to industry big models, truly enabling artificial intelligence to empower the industry and assist scientific research.


Breaking through the bottleneck of computing power through architecture innovation, revolutionary launch of peer-to-peer flat architecture, improving node performance by 30%; Through the launch of the Ascension AI cluster in 2019, the AI data center was designed as a supercomputer, achieving an efficiency improvement of over 10% with equal computing power.


Huawei actively builds an innovation ecosystem and adheres to the strategy of "hardware openness, software open-source, enabling partners, and talent development". Over the past four years, with the joint efforts of all industry partners, a complete computing industry ecosystem has been preliminarily built. Currently, Huawei provides a full process enabling platform for innovation in large models, supporting research institutions and corporate clients. It has incubated more than 20 basic large models and adapted to more than 10 mainstream large models in the industry. About half of China's large models are supported by Ascension AI.


Huawei adopts various models for computing power construction to meet customers' differentiated computing power needs. At present, Huawei has supported 25 cities such as Shanghai, Wuhan, and Xi'an to build artificial intelligence computing centers based on Shengteng AI, providing inclusive computing infrastructure services; At the same time, we will help China Mobile, China Southern Power Grid, IFlytek and other large enterprises that have the desire to build their own AI computing centers to build independent computing centers; In addition, Huawei Cloud AI computing services are provided to small and medium-sized enterprises, enabling them to quickly and flexibly develop and apply AI, directly obtaining and using it on the cloud.


Hu Houkun believes that while deeply cultivating computing power, artificial intelligence also needs to face thousands of industries and create greater value. Currently, AI for Industry, enabling industries, and AI for Science, supporting research is a key direction.


Huawei pioneered a three-layer architecture of basic models, industry models, and scenario models to accelerate the promotion of AI for Industry. Since the release of the Huawei Cloud Pan Gu Big Model in 2021, it has penetrated more than 10 industries such as finance, manufacturing, government affairs, coal mining, and railways, supporting the implementation of AI applications in over 400 business scenarios.


In terms of AI for Industry and supporting scientific research, Huawei's Pangu Scientific Computing Big Model has launched a series of big models, including drug molecules, meteorology, and ocean waves. Especially in the field of meteorological forecasting, the prediction accuracy of the Pangu model from 1 hour to 7 days exceeds the performance of European and American meteorological centers. Relevant papers have been published in the international journal Nature, which is also an affirmation by meteorological experts and academia that the Pangu model is used for scientific research.
